Having a pet is a special thing, discovering how it could change your life can be extraordinary. Amanda Polillo of Sussex County, New Jersey, never had any pets growing up. Her parents are all about a clean house and with their busy work schedules, having an animal to the mix didn't sound like a good idea. Polillo would talk and send videos to her parents of dogs to try and convince them to get a dog. Polillo says she never would have thought a cat would be her and her family's choice of a first pet.

After discovering a litter of kittens at the Rockaway Town Square Mall in NJ in the summer of 2020, Polillo had a feeling she had to adopt one. She and her family sure enough adopted an 8 week old male kitten. Polillo says she's finally glad she can experience the human and pet bond. She said the feeling of caring for an animal like Jax, brings her so much needed joy.

“It was just the right time, dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic hasn't been easy… having a fuzzy friend like my cat is therapeutic.” Polillo said.
